30.11.2019 City

Santa got stuck in the chimney or lost your letter? Worry not! We are bearing good news for all last-minute gift shoppers – you still have a few days left to snatch the most beautiful presents for your loved ones. Follow our special list of must-visit spots to discover the richness of Christmas markets, artisanal stores, art pop-ups, and boutiques with Polish fashion and design. Gift shopping has never been so easy!

The capital city is bursting at the seams with boutiques where you can get excellent Polish fashion and design. For a few years now, Mysia 3 has been reigning supreme, bringing you a selection of designer stores and top-notch design. Selected stores include Polish brands – Elementy, BalaganVasina StudioOrska – as well as concept stores with impressive collections of furniture, art, and house accessories (NAP, Muji, and 8288 concept store by Robert Kuta). Enjoy a feminine, Parisian atmosphere in Cloudmine, a boutique with fashion, accessories, and a variety of items from Polish designers, located on 17 Paryska Street. Once you’re there, ask yourself a question – isn’t a blend of herbal tea in a can designed by Edgar Bąk just the perfect gift? For those of you ultimately last-minute, Design Fair (Targi Designu Wzory) will be held in the antique interior of the Jabłkowski Brothers Shopping Mall on the last weekend before Christmas (December 21-22). You will have a chance to browse through a selection of artisanal marvels or choose the I Don’t Buy – I DIY! philosophy by taking part in one of the workshops with knitting, organic beauty products, Christmas wreaths, or forest jars.

Christmas Market in Poznań is a must-see for anyone willing to live and breathe the magic of Christmas. Go to Plac Wolności (Freedom Square) and revel in delicious food, mulled wine, and the richness of gift ideas – from scented soaps to organic cosmetics and herbs. On December 21-22, Design & Craft Market is coming to Stary Browar (the Old Brewery), where some worth-visiting Polish designers’ stores are run on a daily basis (TUTU, Orska, Bizuu). Go to Miszko Maszko – the treasure with women’s fashion and accessories – patterned dresses, ceramics, and leather extras in particular – and don’t go past Agata Bieleń’s showroom without taking a closer look at her minimalist jewelry. For Christmas wreaths and all things plant, head to Kwiaty i MIUT or Roślinka.

Sztuka Wyboru is where you should start because, firstly – it’s PURO – and secondly – it’s a real GEM of a concept store! Bringing together a coffee shop, a bookstore, an art gallery, a design store and an enormous conference & exhibition space in the two-floor historic building in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, Sztuka Wyboru is the one of its kind in Poland. Do the shopping, relax away from the hustle of the Christmas rush and, if you feel like making a DIY gift, take part in a workshop on how to make scented soy candles. More touristy areas of Gdańsk also hide a lot of spots worth-visiting – you might know what these are if you’ve read about Ania Włodarczyk’s discoveries. Apart from exquisite restaurants, you should definitely go to Zakład Rymarski A & W Sitko, where the window exhibition boasts beautiful travel bags and classic handbags, including a furry Napoleonic knapsack! See another extraordinary window exhibit on Węglarska no. 5 where a millinery studio is located, offering unimaginably many headwear pieces. Last but not least, if you’re looking for fresh fish, vegetables, and fruit for the Christmas feast, go to the market located in a beautiful 19thcentury building on Dominikańska 1.

The capital of Lower Silesia is all about art and handicraft. Artisanal workshops and original boutiques are here in plenty (especially in Nadodrze), but it all comes down to what you’re looking for. If you want some beautiful ceramics, you must go to ENDE, but if you want flowers or plants, Kwiaciarnia DR Bloom will be the place to go. You can also discover a variety of creative snacks, scents, and soy candles from Food Think Tank, or go to Natura Rzeczy where you can find all kinds of original interior design. If your loved ones, particularly women, love minimalist fashion, go to PULPA and Elementy. Ultimate last-minute gift seekers should go to Bakalie – a Christmas fair with delicious food from local chefs and interesting workshops. Coming this weekend!

This city is a true mecca when it comes to vintage stores and antiques shops. We have already told you a bit about Kraków’s boutiques, but we don’t mind refreshing your memory! If you’re looking for ceramics, go to Kalva or Andrzej Mędrek’s workshop. Papierniczeni is the perfect destination if you’re thinking about getting some paper wonders, but if you want organic, deliciously flavorful and herbal beauty products, Klaudyna Hebda will be happy to help you. If you’re treasure hunting at vintage stores, go to Szpeje and Lubię Rzeczy, but if contemporary design is your thing, visit Forum Designu and Rzeczy Same. We also wholeheartedly support and recommend free-trade fashion Pamoja Goods and accessories as well as vintage gems in the form of vinyl records (from Records Dillaz, Paul's Boutique Record Store, and High Fidelity, 6 Podbrzezie Street) or clothes from Obcy w mojej szafie

As the capital of the textile industry, Łódź consequently upholds its traditions. Fashion rarities inspired by clothing worn in the Polish People’s Republic have already become iconic, especially the ones from Pan tu nie stał – a Łódź-basedcompany using locally made textiles! Their flagship store is located in OFF Piotrkowska, a part of the city center with numerous cafes, food joints, artist’s workshops and boutiques. That’s where you can find ceramics from INDYGO, Animal Kingdom magical jewelry, and unconventional sunglasses from Gloomy Sunday. Fans of practical yet beautiful minimalism will fall head over heels in love with Cat Cat, a Polish brand with a studio located on Piotrkowska – Łódź’s key shopping street full of treasure-hiding stores.

Wishing you all the best on a quest for presents that will feed the eyes, the soul, the heart, and the mind of your loved ones, bringing them happiness and filling you with satisfaction.
